Consett lost at home by four goals for the third time this season when they were beaten 0-4 by a Marske United that sat below them in the league at kick off time. In a game largely spoilt by a blustery wind, the Steelmen went behind after just five minutes when keeper Barry Poskett stumbled in coming to collect Karl Charlton's right wing cross and the ball somehow found its way into the net. It remained 0-1 at the break but Charlton scored his and Marske's second goal five minutes after the interval, latching on to Derek Bradley's flick on to nip between the two centre backs and prod the ball home. The game was already dead and buried when the vistors scored two more in the last five minutes - first another Charlton cross from the right was fumbled into the net by Poskett at the near post, and then a mishit clearance fell kindly for Benn Thompson who swept the ball home from six yards. Consett have now conceded at least two goals in each of their last nine games, and this defeat leaves them worryingly above the relegation zone in 16th place.

Consett progressed into 3rd Round of the Northern League Cup after a comfortable 5-2 victory at home to Second Division Northallerton Town. The result was never really in doubt once Michael Mackay had blasted the into a 3-0 lead with a hat trick in the first half an hour. Harrison Davies bagged his first Consett goal on the stroke of half time to give the home side a four goal lead at the break. The North Yorkshire side put up a more spirited fight after the break and Bulmer pulled one back midway through the second half. Consett went nap four minutes from time through Gavin Ross, and Carl Chillingsworth had the last word for the visitors with a goal three minutes into stoppage time.

In the draw for the 3rd Round of the FA Vase made today Consett, have been given the difficult task of an away tie at Billingham Synthonia. Synners are bound to feel confident about this given that they have already won 5-1 at Belle Vue just last month. The match will take place on Saturday 3 December, which means the away game at Newcastle Benfield originally scheduled for then must now be played at a later date.

Consett progressed into the 3rd Round of the FA Vase with a thrilling 4-2 win over North West Counties League side Ramsbottom United. There was no sign of the excitement to come in a dismal first half which remained goalless for 44 minutes, with the visitors always looking most likely to break the deadlock. However just before the interval Marc Walton beat the offside trap to break through and fire home, beating the keeper at his near post (pictured above). Incredibly Consett were 2-0 up by half time, as Walton's deflected shot on the turn two minutes into first half stoppage time doubled his tally. The Lancastrians stormed back after the break and were level within nine minutes. First Mark Drew's 40-yard piledriver of a free kick bounced wickedly in front of Barry Poskett who was unable to prevent it finding the net. Then centre back Ian Flannery rose to head home Grant Spencer's corner to restore parity. Michael Mackay put Consett back in front on 69 minutes after latching to Harrison Davies' through ball, then Mackay made the game safe five minutes from time with a wonderful dipping strike from 25 yards.

The draw has been made for the 3rd Round of the League Cup and Consett's reward if they get past Northallerton Town in the postponed 2nd Round game next Wednesday will be an away tie at Norton & Stockton Ancients.

The spoils were shared at Dean Street this afternoon as Shildon and Consett played out a 2-2 draw. With both sides having featured in seven-goal thrillers the previous week, it looked like it was going to be more of the same as the game got off to a blistering start with three goals in the first 18 minutes. Wayne Gredziak lashed a screamer into the top corner with barely 100 seconds on the clock, but the Steelmen fought back brilliantly to take a 2-1 lead. Dale Burrell hammered a 13th minute equaliser into the roof of the net, before David Scorer finally bagged his first Consett goal - in his 108th game! He followed up his own header from Burrell's left wing corner to force the ball home from close range (pictured above). Inevitably the pace dropped after that and in the second half in particular Consett found themselves under the cosh. Shildon's equaliser, when it came though, had a touch of fortune about it as Ben Christensen's drive across goal was deflected in at the near post by Anthony Lund.

Consett's erratic league form continued at Belle Vue but there was a happy ending after a 4-3 victory over South Shields. A Michael MacKay first half double and second half strikes from Dale Burrell and Marc Walton were enough for victory and although Consett were never behind in the game, the victory never looked assured until the very closing stages.

Consett made it through to the 2nd Round of the Durham Challenge Cup with a hard-fought extra time and penalties win over Second Division Whickham. After a goalless first half, the home side took the lead through Lawrence McKenna five minutes after the break, but Michael Mackay struck back in the 54th minute. With the score 1-1 at 90 minutes extra time was required and Macky's second seven minutes from time looked like being the winner, only for Steven Aiston to take it to penalties with a 119th minute equaliser. Thankfully the shoot-out was largely stress-free, Jamie Poole, Mackay and David Brown netting for Consett while Barry Poskett saved all three Whickham spot-kicks.
