A rare outbreak of football this afternoon as Consett played their first home game for a month, entertaining Dunston Federation in a crucial game at the top of Division One. A cracking festive period game ended 2-2 to extend the Steelmen's unbeaten run to six games, in which they have accrued 16 points. David Pounder fired Consett ahead after just three minutes, but nine minutes later Kane Young levelled the scores. Paul Gilmore was Consett's hero just after the half hour mark when he saved a Fergal Harkin penalty, but two minutes later Fed took the lead anyway thanks to Consett old boy Andrew Bulford. Carl Piecha made it 2-2 three minutes into the second half and that was the way it finished to leave the Steelmen five points clear of Spennymoor Town at the top of the league, although the Moors have two games in hand.
