Slightly later
than promised CLICK HERE to see
Consett's league fixtures for the 2003/04 season in full.
A couple of pre-season games have been arranged so far.
On Saturday 27 July there will be a benefit match at Consett, when a
Consett Select XI will play a Referees XI, kick off 2.00 pm. This
match is to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and is being
played in memory of referee John Challoner, who died in April. Then on
the following Saturday, 2 August, Consett will entertain a Sunderland XI
at Belle Vue.

Consett appoint
their new manager
Consett have announced that their new manager is Ray Lish. Ray is an
experienced Northern League manager who will be joining the club from
his former position as manager of Murton. He has previously been
assistant manager at Jarrow Roofing and has also spent time at
Washington and Horden CW. We all hope that Ray will be leading us
back into the First Division next season.
New fixture list
The new fixtures for the 2003/04 season were released yesterday and
Consett begin their campaign with the long trek up to Alnwick, something
we should be thankful we are able to do on a Saturday afternoon in
August rather than on a bleak Tuesday night in January! Consett's
first three fixtures of the season are:
Sat 16 Aug 2003 Alnwick Town (A)
Sat 23 Aug 2003 Hebburn Town (H)
Mon 25 Aug 2003 Willington (A)
Hopefully I'll be posting the full fixture list in the
next day or two, however we couldn't really have hoped for a much easier
start to the season as all three sides were in the bottom half of
Division Two last season, and Willington only survived dropping out of
the league altogether due to Eppleton's 15 point deduction - their goal
difference of minus 82 was by a huge distance the worst in the league.
Also, in the draw for the League Cup, Consett have been
given a bye to the second round where they will face Washington at home,
whom they faced at the same stage in this competition last season.
