The U11s and U13s shared the ‘Fair Play Award’.

Ted Lidster (U17) and Eric Lumley (U17) both received awards for their service to Consett Juniors as manager and coach respectively.

A long service award was presented to David Curry (U17).

Long Service Awards for the U18s went to Robbie Nichol, Mark Turner, Chris Elliot, Scott Thompson, Sean McGarry, Ross McCance and Richard Stafford

Consett Juniors Under 12's - National 5-a-side Champions

Consett Juniors Under 12's became National Boys Club 5-a-side Champions in May.

Consett Juniors Under 12's won the Durham County competition in November 2001 in a very exciting competition. On the way to winning the competition the overcame local rivals Redheugh, Cleveland Hall & Leam Rangers. The final v Redheugh finished 0-0 & Consett won the competition 5-4 on penalties.

Winning the competition meant that Consett travelled to Bradford in April 2002 to represent County Durham. Despite seeing off the best teams from Merseyside, Cumbria & Yorkshire they lost the final to West End Boys from Manchester. Qualifying for the final meant that Consett qualified to represent Northern England in the National Finals in Kettering.

The National finals were a very hard fought competition which saw Consett drawing there 1st League game moments after arriving at the venue but then going on to win there next 3 league games to reach the semi-finals. During the league section Consett beat teams from Leicestershire, Wales, London & Berkshire. The semi-final saw a repeat of the Northern Regional final with Consett defeating West End Boys of Manchester 3-1 this time round. In the final Consett defeated Peabody Trust of London 2-1.

Club Secretary David Pyke said "This is an outstanding achievement by the boys one which will be hard to match in the future. The Club is extremely proud of the team".

Two of the boys, David Wardle & Andrew Wright, have been selected to represent Sunderland Academy & Hartlepool School of Excellence respectively. Consett Juniors would like to wish them every success.

        CONSETT JUNIORS FC WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR LOCAL ASDA STORE IN FRONT STREET, STANLEY FOR ALLOWING THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO RAISE FUNDS THROUGH ‘BAG – PACKING’ AT VARIOUS TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.  

THIS IS A MASSIVE BOOST TO A CLUB RUN BY VOLUNTEERS, GIVING YOUNGSTERS IN THE COMMUNITY A CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN FOOTBALL IN ORGANISED LEAGUES.

Consett U12s were N.A.B.C. national 5 a-side winners at Kettering on Saturday 18th May 2002. Consett beat Peabody from Essex in the Final to lift the cup. (Full report to follow).

Consett Juniors are at present trying to recruit youngsters for next season’s mini-soccer league. This will expand the club to eleven teams, introducing an U8s, U9s and U10s.

Interested children should be in school years 3, 4 and 5 at the beginning of the new school year in September, 2002.

Two teams have resigned from the league: Crook and Dunston Fed, while four teams have joined the league: Chester Town, Felling Magpies, North Tyneside College and Prudhoe Town.

U11s: Season complete, final table unavailable.
U12s: Lost their final league game 2-1 at home to league champions Redheugh, after Consett took the lead through David Wardle.

Better news in the Boy’s Club 5 a-side Northern Knock-out at Bradford, although losing to Manchester in the final, the top two sides go to Kettering to compete in the Nationals, good luck Consett !

U15s: Took on league champions Cleveland Hall in the subsidiary final at Belle Vue 10.30am KO, Sunday 28th April but lost 5-2. Daniel Stewart and Scott Raey scoring for Consett.

U17s:

Lost mid-week at West Denton 3-1 to complete their season.

U18s:

The U18s completed their season v Crook on 22 April, winning 3-2 – Paul McDonald 2, and Daniel Craggs were the goal-scorers.

Durham suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Birmingham in the County Youth Final held at Walsall.  John Berry from Consett U18s has been a County Squad member all season.


The Juniors Presentation will be held at Consett Civic Hall, Sunday 9th June, 2.30pm-6pm.

U11s: Season complete, final table unavailable.
U12s: Away to Felling Magpies DREW 1-1, seen as points dropped in their quest for a top three place. Also DREW mid-week at Cleveland Hall 2-2. On Saturday they travel to Bradford to represent this area in the Boy’s Clubs northern heats at 5 a-side.
U13s: Season complete, final table unavailable.
U14s: Away to Rutherford, WON 2-1 in their last game of their season. Off to Germany in June for two days of summer football.
U15s: Home to Blackfyne in the semi-final of the Subsidiary Cup. WON 3-1 and now meet league champions Cleveland Hall at Belle Vue Park in the final on Sunday 28 April, 10.30am KO.
U16s: Played a friendly at Blaydon, WON 2-0. 

The Edward Wanless Cup Final was contested between South Shields Abfab and Sandhole at Consett’s Belle Vue Park, 2pm KO – Sandhole were victors 2-1 after extra-time.

U17s:

No game. DREW with West Denton mid-week to keep their hopes alive in the subsidiary competition and need at least a point from their next away fixture to progress further.

U18s:

The U18s LOST 5-1 to Walker Central at Belle Vue Park on Monday 15 April, so are out of the Subsidiary Cup competition. Tonight - Monday 22 April, they play their final league game at Crook Town, KO 7.30pm.

U16s Gillette Cup

Durham crashed out of this competition against local rivals Northumberland, losing 2-1 after extra time. Northumberland now meet Hertfordshire in the final on Sunday 28 April at Meadow Lane, Notts County.

Once again, Andrew Morgan from Consett U16s was in the Durham squad.

U11s: away to Winlaton , LOST 7-0, still to win their first game of the season, put up a brave fight.
U12s: home to Low Fell B, LOST 4-3, suffered a blow to their top 3 hopes, by losing at home in another exciting encounter, to add to their woe Consett missed a last minute penalty.
U13s: Fixtures now complete, this Consett side finished near the foot of the league, but credit to both management and players as their performances have greatly improved this season.
U14s: home to Rutherford, WON 9-1, with one game remaining (away to the same opponents) this Consett side have never really produced to their capabilities, and could have done with producing their cup form in their league games this season.
U15s: no game, the U15s await news of their opponents in next weekends subsidiary cup semi-final, the carrot for them being the final played at Belle Vue Park, the following Sunday, 10.30 KO v Cleveland Hall.

U16s: Played a friendly at home losing to Leam Rangers.  The U16s League Shield Final was contested between Cleveland Hall and Sandhole at Consett’s Belle Vue Park, 2pm KO – after 2-2 aet – Cleveland Hall were victors after a penalty shoot-out.
U17s:

home to Stockfield, WON 3-0 league result, this junior team have 2 remaining games in their subsidiary cup, and need to win one of them to progress further.

U18s:

No game (Sat. 13/04)
The U18s have their final league game to arrange at Crook, but face Walker Central at Belle Vue Park (Monday 15th April) in what may or may not be their last game in the Subsidiary Cup.

U16s Gillette Cup

Durham progressed to the semi’s after beating North Wales 5-0 at the home of Seaham Red Star, Saturday 13th April 2002.

Andrew Morgan from Consett U16s is in the Durham squad.

Durham County FA now have a date for their County Youth Cup Final v Birmingham, Saturday 27th April, 2002 at Walsall FC – KO 3.00PM. In the squad is John Berry who plays for Consett’s U18s.

U16s Gillette Cup

Durham have a home draw in the quarter final v North Wales, the game will be held on Saturday 13th April, 2002 at the home of Seaham Red Star, KO time has yet to be agreed. Andrew Morgan from Consett U16s is in the Durham squad.

U11s: Home v Leam Rangers Y. Yet to win a game this season the U11’s put up a spirited fight against Leam but lost 7 - 2.
U12s: Home v Low Fell C. Continued their good form to keep up their challenge for a top three place, with a 4 - 0 win.
U13s: Home v Blaydon. Went down 8 - 0 to the league leaders.
U14s: Away v Felling Magpies. Lost 3 - 1
U15s: Home v Blackfyne. A comfortable 4 - 0 derby win.
U16s: No Game
U17s:

Home v Wardley. A strong league performance rewarded with a 4 - 1 win

U18s:

Played Saturday 30 March. U18s faced Redheugh at home, in a cup game, it was goal-less at half-time, but Redheugh finished strongly to win 3-0. The U18s have two remaining fixtures, away to Crook (league) and home to Walker Central (cup).

The juniors had a depleted fixture weekend, due to teams attending holiday tournaments.
U11s: no game
U12s: no game
U13s: home to Sandhole, drew 1-1.
U14s: home to Blaydon, drew 3-3, Consett were always in front but had to settle for a point in an exciting game, this was a good performance from the Consett side, as Blaydon haven’t lost a game all season and this was only their second drawn game.
U15s:/
U16s:
no game, this was an opportunity to pit their wits against older boys – as the U16s also had no game – so they set up a friendly. The final result saw the U16s winning 4-2.
U17s:

away to Chopwell in the Charlie Thomas Memorial Trophy, Consett ran out 4-2 winners. The U17s crashed out of the U18s County Cup losing their home semi-final 4-1 against Redheugh.

Durham County U18s discovered Birmingham are their opponents in the Final, game to be played at Walsall.

U11s: no game
U12s: home to Blackfyne in this local derby, league fixture – Consett 3 Blackfyne 1
Both goalkeepers were men of the match [Consett’s Jamie Bates] in this exciting game, Consett held a first half lead through Danny Castro Atkinson, and were up against a strong wind second half, however, Consett added a further 2 goals, Danny scoring his second and Glen Malpass. Blackfyne scored a consolation goal but contributed to a fine game.
U13s: Away to Cleveland Hall in a tough league fixture, Consett drew 3-3.
U14s: Away to Ryton in the League Cup semi-final, with 90 secs to go and the score at 1-1 [Consett’s scorer – Scott Nicholson] Ryton scored to take them into the final.
Consett’s mom was Karl Turner.
U15s: Home to Swalwell in a subsidiary cup competition Consett produced a fine performance to win 7-2
U16s: Away to Prudhoe in a new cup – result to follow.
U17s: Away to Blackfyne in the Charlie Thomas Memorial Trophy, Consett ran out easy winners 7-0.
Next Sunday [10/03] sees the U17s take on Redheugh BC u17s in the U18s County Cup semi final.
The other semi final is between Brandon Boys U18s and Chester le st U18s.

Durham beat Lancashire County FA 2 – 1 [AET] at Billingham Synthonia’s ground, and will travel away for the final and face the winners of Nottingham v Birmingham, which is being played next Saturday.

Consett’s John Berry played the full game in Durham’s midfield.

Consett U18’s meanwhile traveled to Redheugh BC to play in a subsidiary cup competition, both sides weakened with players on county duty, Consett won 3-2.

Last weekends football was again hit by bad weather, all the Junior’s home games were postponed and only 2 away fixtures survived the elements.

However, it was bad news for both the U14s and U17s as they both lost 3-2 to Stocksfield and 5-3 to Newcastle East End respectively.

U18s Football

Durham County FA play hosts to Lancashire FA in the FA County Youth Cup, the venue is at Billingham Synthonia FC’s ground – KO 2.15pm- this Saturday, 2nd March.

In the squad is John Berry who plays for Consett’s U18s.

U16s Gillette Cup

Last weekend (22 - 24 February) Durham’s Boys Club team progressed to the next round of the competition by winning the Northern Region Round Robin held this year at Whitley Bay, Northumberland finished second and join Durham in the nation rounds.

These two contested last year’s final at Notts County’s ground where Northumberland were the victors.

Consett Juniors are represented by Andrew Morgan, who is first choice left back, Andrew is also training with Newcastle United after being spotted playing for Durham against Darlington’s Academy in a friendly

At present Consett’s most talented ex-junior Ben Clark is doing well at international level having represented England at all schoolboy levels and is at present in the U19 squad. Ben is a regular centre-back for Sunderland Reserves and can’t be far away from a first team outing.

The club secretary was presented with a certificate from the FA, confirming Consett Juniors FC as a Standard Chartered Club. The presentation was made at the Stadium of Light, on the pitch at half-time of the game between Sunderland and Newcastle Reserve Teams. This award shows that the junior club is being run to FA standards.

 

 

 
 

Consett U16s - 2000/01

Last seasons very successful Consett U16s, winners of the County Cup, Edward Wanless Cup and shared the League Championship with Felling Magpies.
